Each year, the Graphic and Interactive Design major at Tyler School of Art and Architecture hosts a portfolio review and networking event for graduating GAID students and alumni. The events are coordinated and branded by the Event Design class, which I participated in 2022 and 2023.

In 2023, the class was reworked. Instead of one design group branding both the portfolio review and networking event, the two events were split up. For the year 2023, I was on the branding team for the networking event, now named “Connect“.

Brainstorming:

Our team of 6 students started by brainstorming potential names for the newly separated networking event. While each team member had different jobs (chosen by our professor Abby Guido after conducting interviews), every members of the team collaborated on all aspects of the branding.

One of my duties as a team member consisted of conducting brainstorming exercises to help our team come up with a new name for the event. The most fruitful exercise for us was word exploration. Upon finalizing the name, we moved forward to sketching potential logo ideas.

Signage was displayed throughout the event. Signage created included sign in sheets, welcome posters, sponsor posters and table tents. Each sign was printed and cut to size by the Connect team. in addition, name tags for each person attending were printed, cut and placed into landyards to be handed out at the event. Coasters were also created for those in attendance to take home.
